Arara Nut Tree is a large tree native to Brazil, and is cultivated in India.
Leaves are compound with palm-like arrangement of leaves, similar to Silk Cotton Tree and Baobab.
Flowers are small, yellowish, insignificant.
The tree produces large fruits with 2 or 3 egg-shaped seeds.
The seed have an oil with strong purgative action, and are considered to be poisonous to humans.

Joannesia princeps
Endemic to Brasil
Family : Euphorbiaceae

TO A CERTAIN EXTENT yes….
BUT the leaves of Silk Cotton and Baobab are more similar and certainly different… and
leaves shown in Photos clearly shows they are larger and broader
Please CHECK
there is a old Baobab tree in Lalbaugh
so that you can place both leaf formation next to each other and check it out.

Endemic to Brazil, Joannesia princeps is threatened by habitat lossWikipedia as well as … has put.
If this plant is able to be cultivated elsewhere other then the restricted area, then it is no longer known as endemic.
Thus what is the fact: is Joannesia princeps endemic to OR native of Brazil ?

The name plate says clearly ‘Andes Gomesii’ in lalbagh

So this tree is a araranut

Its actually Anda gomesii, not Andes. Plz tell Lalbagh people to correct it.

Sorry, its my typo.

Its flowering now (7 images)
