Both of these specimens looks like Rhynchosia himalensis Baker. But leaves are trifoliate in this species.


I think you got it right. The fruit, very long lowest calyx lobe (almost equalling keel) agrees perfectly, flower size and colour (yellow with purple striations) all agree with Rhynchosia himalensis. Leaflets is not a big issue as we could locate many leaves with 3 leaflets. The only worry is lesser number of flowers.

Rhynchosia himalensis Benth. ex Baker in Fl.Brit.Ind. 2:225. 1876.
Trailing herb with yellow viscous hairs; leaves pinnately trifoliate, sometimes only 2 leaflets, latter broad ovate, entire, pubescent; flowers yellow in axillary raceme; pedicel 3-4 mm long, bract 5-6 mm long; calyx up to 17 mm long with unequal teeth; vexillum up to 15 mm long, keel and wings smaller; pod up to 3 cm long, 6-8 mm broad, hairy.

This straggler was recorded from Chakrata and I got this identified as Rhynchosia himalensis ..
