Erect herbs; branches covered with reflexed hairs. Leaves 5-6 x 1.5 cm, elliptic, obtuse, acute at base, distantly crenate, hirtus above, densely tomentose beneath; petiole 8 mm long. Heads terminal; bracts 10 x 1 mm, linear, bristly. Flowers 15-30 in a head; calyx tube 7 mm long, white, densely hairy outside; corolla tube 5 mm long, upper lip emarginate, white, hairy, midlobe of lower lip emarginate.

Please help in identifying this Leucas herb found common in scrub jungles.

Height 2 feet, stem quadrangular, leaf 1-1.5 cm wide, 4-4.5 cm long, petiole .3-.6 cm, leaf margin toothed above the middle, verticellasters 2 cm in diameter, calyx tube 1 cm long, bracts .7 cm long, calyx teeth 10 and throat of the calyx villous with white hair.
Can this be L. eriostoma or L. hirta?


Thanks, … To me it appears closer to images at Leucas hirta rather than those at Leucas eriostoma

Thank you very much … I would appreciate if a group expert could make the taxonomic difference was available rather than the comparative images as these species have very close characters but there must be one feature that sets them apart. I am not able to tell myself from the floras I have available.
