Satara, Oct 2014 :: Requesting ID – Leucas (?) :: ARKNOV-16 : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (3)
Requesting to please provide ID of plant member captured near Satara, Maharashtra in October 2014. Any Leucas species?

I have a feeling that it is Leucas diffusa.  Was it located in the drier part of Satara. Somewhere around Faltan etc.

Not sure, if it is Leucas, calyx mouth looks like that of L. stelligera

Thanks … for the feedback… To answer … question, this was not from a drier part but was taken by the roadside between the Kas plateau and Kas Lake. … suggestion looks more plausible, my pics match some of the L. stelligera pics present in the efi database (at a stage when the flowers have fallen off and only the calyx remains).

The plant seems to be Leucas songeana

Thanks, …, There is no distribution of Leucas songeana in India as per WCSP.

The name is probably derived from the stellately radiating calyx lobes.

Herb, Colem, Goa, roadsides.

…, to me it seems Leucas stelligera. The leaves and habit makes me think so.

Not sure about the hint of brown on the flowers (right in the centre of photo, and also somewhere halfway in right-top quadrant) typically seen in L. ciliatus. The leaves of L. ciliatus are however different from what are seen here.
Let us wait for validating comments.
