Attached are pictures of Tectona grandis captured at Mumbai in August 2013. Tectona genus so far not placed either in Verbenaceae or in Lamiaceae. It is of uncertain position. As per recent studies it is not fitting either of the families!!! Lamiaceae now http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/kew-202018 I accept in the Plant list Tectona is placed in Labiatae, but one should remember the plant list database is mainly of compiled work, with the effort of Dr. Rafael Govaerts.
As per Kubitzki’s Genera and families of Vascular plants, the Tectona, Callicarpa etc. are placed under “Genera Incerta Sedis”. In future these genera may assign to Lamiaceae, Verbenaceae or to any other family!
