Herbs with creeping root stock. Leaves oblong, acuminate, base rounded or obtuse, to 30 x 18 cm; petiole to 60 cm long. Spike globose, sessile on the petiole, 4-6 cm across. Inner bracts ovate-oblong, fimbriate at apex. Corolla yellow. Outer petaloid staminodes orange-red. Lip with a pendulous appendage. Ovary tomentose.

Flowering and fruiting: April-July
Semi-evergreen and myristica swamp forests

Please identify this herb from a wetland associated with a sacred grove at Kannur District of Kerala collected on 26/01/19.

wow. i wish could see it in its prime. remnants of a canna inflorescence may be?

Leaves structure more closely to Canna edulis.

Thanks to … since its … opinion, i accept it. the leaf venation are matching with maranta but the red remnants don’t match any thing on the net
