it was a leaf-less plant. 

I think this one is “Turraea villosa” from Meliaceae family.

I too strongly feel so !!
… wild honeysuckle, kapur bhendi (Marathi: कापुर भेंडी).

Oh. Such a large shrub. I have never seen this so large.
