Gymnacranthera canarica (King) Warb., Nova Acta Acad. Caes. Leop.-Carol. German. Nat. Cur. 68: 368 1897. (Syn: Myristica canarica Bedd. ex King);

Common name: Kanara Nutmeg • Kannada: Pindi • Malayalam: Pintikkaya; Udaipami; Undaipanu; Undapayin

Kerala, just extending into South Kanara in Karnataka.
Collected from widely scattered locations in the 19th century, the species had not been collected for almost a century and was suspected of being extinct until recently. Remaining subpopulations appear to be extremely rare and restricted. Further detailed information may indicate that a more serious threat category is appropriate. The seeds have been mistaken for nutmeg.
A large tree found in lowland moist dense forest.

Pintikkaya; Udaipami; Undaipanu; Undapayin which when transcribed to Malayalam would look like respectively as:

പിണ്ടിക്കായ; ഉഡൈപാമി; ഉണ്ടൈപാനു: ഉണ്ടപ്പൈൻ|of which one is OK, second and third can never be Malayalam and the fourth one is very good for Malayalam
