Kindly help for the following id.
Place: Temi Tea Garden, West Sikkim
Date: May, 2008

I think this looks like Coelogyne nitida. Pic is not clear, can you please confirm if new inflorescence is coming from the base and if it gives rise to new shoot or not after flowering?

Thanks … Here I attached another close-up of this orchid. Hope this will help. I don’t have any clear answer of your question, sorry.

Yes its looks like Coelogyne nitida

This was one of the most common orchid encountered during the tour,
I have placed this under Coelogyne, wanted to know the species, can this be C. corymbosa ??

…. I am thinking why this is not Coelogyne nitida !!

I agree with … it is Coelogyne nitida

Thanks … the flower is really excellent to watch..

Yes this should be Coelogyne nitida. Inflorescence emerging from the base of old bulb as new shoot and not from the mature old bulb top.
Thanks a lot for sharing.

Some Coelogyne ? Regret for the low quality image since it was foggy and long shot.

I have seen these, but I am unable to make out if the inflorescence is coming from a mature bulb or new bulb (the identification key is based on this). But if I have to guess, assuming that the inflorescence is emerging from the apex of new shoot with leaves coming out simultaneously and I can see the bulbs are 7cm or longer, then this is Coelogyne nitida.
