Good observation sir; am also in Gujarat; came from Andhra Pradesh for IAAT conference.

Seems to be Schweinfurthia Species, probably Schweinfurthia papilionacea, of Scrophulariaceae.

I’ve seen this in Oman.

Thank you so much.

This species was collected by some botanists on a few occasions in arid parts of Kachchh and Saurashtra of Gujarat. It has been entered into the list of threatened plants prepared by World Conservation Monitoring Center (WCMC, 1994).

The genus Schweinfurthia belonging to Scrophulariaceae, consists of three species distributed in Africa and India, of which Schweinfurthia papilionacea A. Br., commonly known as Sanipat or Nepalnimbo (Hindi) or Sannipat (Sanskrit), is occurring in India. Screening of published literature pertaining to floristic studies revealed that the distribution of this species is mainly confined to Afghanistan, Pakistan, (Beluchistan and Sind regions) and India (Gujarat and Rajasthan) (Hooker 1883, Cooke 1958, Bhandari 1990, Kirtikar & Basu 2001). Singh et al. (1991) reported the rare occurrence of this species in rocky habitats of West of Aravalli hills of Rajasthan.
In Gujarat, the species was reported occasionally by Malhotra and Wadhwa (1973) from Jamnager district, Shah (1978) from Kachchh and Saurashtra, Rao (1983) from Kachchh and Anuradha Babu  et al. (1989) from Saurashtra. Shah (1978) cited this taxon as ‘‘not common’’ in its occurrence at Gujarat.
The species survives under extreme hot conditions of Little Rann of Kachchh. Very few individuals were noticed at Akota and Kariya bets near Nanda village during the month of March in flowering as well as fruiting condition.

Schweinfurthia papilionacea

Thanks a lot, …

Is this considered a rare and endangered species?

It is not a common plant in India but the distribution range is fairly extensive. It is reported from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Oman at least.

OCCURRENCE OF A RARE MEDICINAL PLANT – ResearchGate (Abstract- Schweinfurthia papilionacea A. Br., belonging to family Scrophulariaceae, is a small erect perennial herb. This species was collected by some botanists on a few occasions in arid parts of Kachchh and Saurashtra of Gujarat. It has been entered into the list of threatened plants prepared by World Conservation Monitoring Center (WCMC, 1994). Existing literature revealed that the plant has been a well known drug for malaria fever. During recent explorations conducted in the Little Rann of Kachchh, a few scattered populations of this rare species were noticed. The present paper attempts to compare the earlier reported localities with the present status and offers observation on habit, habitat and morphology of the taxon)
