Cladopus hookeriana

Cladopus hookeriana (Tul.) C.Cusset, Fl. Camb., Laos & Vietn. 14: 71 1973. (syn: Griffithiella hookeriana (Tul.) Warm.; Mniopsis hookeriana Tul.; Podostemum ecostatus Griff. ex Tul.; Podostemum hookerianus (Tul.) Wedd.);

Endemic to the Western Ghats – Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala (Ahmeduliah and Nayar 1986, Cook 1996). It is seen from Bombay to Kerala (Subramanyam 1962) as per IUCN and ZOO 2011 as per India Biodiversity Portal;

Common name: Hooker’s Riverweed

Lithophytic herbs. Thallus variable, thread-like or disc-like, attached firmly throughout the length, bearing leafy secondary shoots. Leaves sheathing, distichous. Flowers minute, zygomorphic, bisexual, naked, emerging from a spathe; stamens 20, monadelphous; staminodes 2, linear; ovary superior, oblique, 2-locular; ovules many, on a massive placentae. Capsule nearly globose, splitting into 2 unequal lobes.

I think it is Indotristicha ramosissima (Podostemaceae).

very nice. tickled my funny bone reminds me of some scenes from pirates of the carribean… love it

I think it should be Dalzellia ceylanica as per FOI and Flora of Peninsular India
I do not think this is Dalzellia. According to the key – Flora of Peninsular India the flowers here are zygomorphic. Flower morphology is similar to Cladopus hookeriana (syn Griffithella hookeriana). But the family is diverse, so I am not sure if there is enough detail to confirm.

Plant posted by … is indeed Cladopus hookeriana I have observed two forms one without stalk and one with stalk I am attaching an image with a note from my diary.
