The images are of Myrsine africana L., a shrub that is very common in Taradevi forests just short of Shimla. Fruits are considered ‘Vaividang’, a raw drug otherwise obtained from Embelia ribes.

Myrsine africana L. (Myrsinaceae) is a common shrub in temperate Himalaya.

Locally it is known as ‘Ghani’ / ‘Chupra’/ ‘Pahari-cha’.

It is Myrsine africana… quite common forest undergrowth in Shimla forests.
