Photographed from Hazuribagh Garden in Srinagar, Kashmir in June 2010 Also photographed from SFO Botanical Garden in California in July 2008 This most popular cultivated species has number of cultivars like ‘Alba’, ‘Purpurea’, ‘Violacea’, ‘Caerulea’, ‘Rubra’, ‘Kermesina’, and what not. You may pick your colour. I think plant from Kashmir may be Clematis ‘Jackmanii’ as per images, details and references herein. I hope you are right …, Looking at the confusion on various websites, I think it would be right to name it as C. x jackmanii (both GRIN and Kew database), TPL and Plants of the World Online list C. jackmanii, but even those websites which name it Clematis ‘Jackmanii’ (as you have suggested) accept it to be be interspecific hybrid. Another amazing flowering on a hanging pot, in the roof garden of Gantok hotel.
Flowers are of 4 inches diameter, non fragrant. Creeper like plant. The violet-blue colour and the size of the flower dumbfounded me. Seen in May 2015. Please help with id .
Also seek advice on whether Kolkata climate will be suitable for it’s flowering and how can I get it. This is a Clematis sp.
I think you can very well grow this at your place… I hope C. viticella
