Similar to C.gouriana but leaves bipinnate, leaflets ovate, smaller, 1.5-3 x 1-2.5cm, acute or acuminate, base rounded, margins coarsely toothed or lobed, sparsely and finely pubescent on both surfaces; panicles branching into 5-7 straight, erect pedicels 5-6cm; sepals 4-6, elliptic, 1.5 x 0.3-0.5cm, acute, yellowish-white, sparsely pubescent; filaments glabrous; achenes pubescent. Fl. July-August

Leaflet size is smaller and thinner compared to others.
I could find the keys as below from the thesis Systematics of Clematis in Nepal, the evolution of tribe Anemoneae … by Alan C Elliott:
