Syn: Rhamnus spina-christi L.
Medium sized tree with glabrous leaves like Z. jujuba, but ovate-elliptic to orbicular in shape, obtuse at apex; spines paired, one erect, c. 2 cm long, the other recurved 5-8 mm long,; infl. tomentose with woolly pedicels.

This is a very common tree in Oman.


Catalogue of Life lists three varieties. Out of which Ziziphus spina-christi var. aucheri (Boiss.) M.Qaiser & S.Nazimuddin is reported from Pakistan.
Pl. confirm.
