what makes it pseudomussaenda? what’s the feature that separates the real from pseudo—-

The difference lies in the fruits. The depicted genus has a dry loculicidal capsule whereas Mussaenda has a indehiscent fleshy berry like fruits. Both are under the family Rubiaceae.

Could it be Mussaenda frondosa?

I too think it z Pseudomussaenda flava – Dwarf Yellow Mussaenda.

May be Mussaenda luteola !

Isn’t Pseudomussaenda flava n Mussaenda luteola Synonyms ???

According to The Plant List, Pseudomussaenda luteola and Mussaenda luteola are synonyms and Pentas lanceolata is the accepted name.

Pseudomussaenda flava from Jim Corbett-GS11012021-2: 2 images.
Pseudomussaenda flava, a plant which has often been incorrectly identified as Mussaenda luleola (auct, plur,, non Delile which is synonym of Pentas lanceolata). The plant looks similar to Mussaenda glabra and M. glabrata but is very distinct in paler and thinner corolla lobes and more importantly fruit is dry loculicidal capsule whereas Mussaenda has an indehiscent fleshy berry like fruits.
Photographed  from Jim Corbett National Park, Nainital District, Uttarakhand, 7-10-2013.

.

Mussaenda and Schizomussaenda: (Mixed thread): only 3 correct images- 2nd and 3rd and 4th image in the post.
Can anybody help me distinguish between Mussaenda and Schizomussaenda? Are these pictures of Schizomussaenda?

Images 1,2,3 are Schizomussaenda henryi (Hutch.) X.F.Deng & D.X.Zhang.

Schizomussaenda with single species S. henryi is very distinct in lanceolate to ovate lanceolate leaves, long acuminate narrow calycophyll and dry fruit.

This is some species of Mussaenda, probably M. frondosa
Where did you click?
Last three images appear to be of a cultivated plant.

Plant for ID1.jpg was sent to me by a friend in Kerala – Not sure if this is Mussaenda frondosa or Schizomussaenda henryi, but again there are no photos of the fruits.
