Trees, up to 30 m tall, evergreen; bark grey; young branches sparsely pubescent.  Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; petiole ca. 6-10 mm, base enlarged; lamina ca. 4-15 x 2-6 cm, narrowly obovate-elliptic, obovate-lanceolate, or oblanceolate, attenuate at base, cuspidate to caudate at apex, margin sparsely spinose-serrate from middle to apex, coriaceous, sparsely pubescent abaxially and crinite at vein axils; secondary nerves 6-10 pairs, ascending to margin. Inflorescences in terminal or axillary panicle ca.4-10 cm, narrow, branched, yellowish pubescent; bracts lanceolate, pubescent; Flowers ca. 3-4 mm in diam., subsessile; sepals 5, ca. 2-2.3 mm in diam., suborbicular, ciliate; petals white or pale yellow: 3 outer ones suborbicular, ca. 2-2.5 mm in diam.; 2 inner ones equal to fertile stamens, bifid; lobes ovate, ciliate; fertile stamens ca. 2 mm; pistil ca. 2-2.5 mm; ovary glabrous; style equal to ovary or slightly longer; disk cup-shaped, 5-toothed. Drupe ca. 0.35-0.5 cm in diam.; subglobose, compressed, endocarp compressed-globose, with coarse, scattered netlike strips, midrib prominent.

If it is Holboellia coriacea, I wonder, how Col. Collett missed it in FLORA SIMLENSIS?
Leaves are not matching in both the cases. I’ll check it again in July and will report back.


Pl. also check for some Thottea species as looks similar to images at Thottea siliquosa & Thottea dalzellii


5 prishth loved are clearly visible in my photographs. But only 3 visible in Thottea.
