It is grow densely along the hill slopes and road sides in temperate mountains at altitude ranging of 2743m to 4400m.
This species is confined only in the central and eastern Himalaya. Dense population of this species is found in the hill slopes of Tawang dist., Arunachal Pradesh and in the temperate regions of North Sikkim specially at Yumthang and Lachung.
