Leaves : Shiny hairless mostly 2 cm long, paler or glaucous beneath and with toothed or almost entire leaf margins. Male catkins cylindrical 2cm, yellowish hairless short stalked born above the leaves; nbracts obovate,brown hairless; stamens filaments hairless. Female catkins similar to male 2.5cm stigmas entire.
Fruiting catkins rather lax; capsule 3.5mm.reddish hairless.

Salix flabellaris Andersson is a dwarf shrub in some alpine zones of Uttatakhand. This occurs often in heavily glaciated valleys.
