China (W-Sichuan, NW-Yunnan), Tibet, Bhutan, Sikkim, Afghanistan (Kunar /
Nuristan), Pakistan (Chitral, Swat, Deosai, Baltistan, Gilgit), Jammu &
Kashmir (Zanskar, Hazara, Poonch, Kashmir) as per Catalogue of Life;
Dwarf shrublets of height up to 60cm.
Leaves : Shiny hairless mostly 2 cm long, paler or glaucous beneath and with toothed or almost entire leaf margins. Male catkins cylindrical 2cm, yellowish hairless short stalked born above the leaves; nbracts obovate,brown hairless; stamens filaments hairless. Female catkins similar to male 2.5cm stigmas entire.
Fruiting catkins rather lax; capsule 3.5mm.reddish hairless.

My 5th Salix species from Himachal (3900 m asl).

This is Salix flabellaris.

 

 
Salix flabellaris Andersson is a dwarf shrub in some alpine zones of Uttatakhand. This occurs often in heavily glaciated valleys.
The picture is from Nilkanth valley of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand.
Alt- about 4000m a.s.l.
