small herb for id : Attachments (3).  10 posts by 6 authors.

I saw this small herb in a fallow field yesterday (22.12.13) in Thane dist, near Tungareshwar WLS.
It has a look of Rotala, same kind of size, but yellow flowers, terete stem, hairy.
Please help to identify.

Vahlia digyna (Retz.) Kuntze (= V. viscosa Roxb.), (= Bistella digyna (Retz.) Bullock); Fam: Vahliaceae. It is often confused with Oldenlandia. It belongs to polyptalous family

Many thanks, that seems to be the correct id.
Are you aware of its distribution in India? I have never come across it before.

This is available in moist places, falow paddy fields. It is reported in flora of Tamil nadu

yes, seen in sandy riverbeds too

…, I wonder if it is Vahlia. Can you pls check if it is Aizoon canariensis of Aizoaceae?

I think that’s unlikely since 1) Aizoon is a prostrate or diffuse plant 2) it is a dry area plant.
My herb is growing in a monsoon waterlogged area. It is not prostrate at all.
