Attaching a collage of Alpinia galanga (KULANJAN/ GREATER GALANGAL). People at this place called this plant PUNDI. There is a place PUNDIBAR, where an agricultural university is located. Locals tells me that the tender inner part of the plant is eaten. The plant is a favorite of elephants.

ALPINIA GALANGA:
Attaching an image of Alpinia galanga. In english it is Greater Galangal. The plant is known as Kulanjan in Hindi and Bangla. I saw this plant for the first time at Tezpur in 2002.
