A tiny ginger with attractive, orchid-like, yellow flowers and small, white bulbils, native to the understory of forests in the Himalayas from Nepal to northern Thailand between 900 and 2300 m (3000 and 7500 ft.). It is easily grown from bulbils and is one of the hardier, cool-growing gingers.
