ASSAM FOREST

Assam forest is one of the most important areas in Indian subcontinent. The gateway of North East India is Assam, and it is one of the famous places for tea, gardens, rivers plains, one horned rhinoceros and green hills. Assam Forest covers an area of approximately 78,438 Sq Km and it is a common boundary for both Bhutan and Bangladesh with 500 and 200 km respectively. Assam Forest is situated between 20°N and 28°N latitude and 90°E and 96°E longitude. Another speciality is it is surrounded by Arunachala Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya. Assam forest is considered to be a biodiversity heaven of India and the sounds of tigers, deer and Elephants plays like music of the nature. Assam forest provides habitat to rare and endangered flora and fauna. The bamboo in Assam forest has lost due to over-exploitation and also the paper industry setup near Assam forest has reduced the bamboo growth. Assam forest has much diversity of flora and fauna and there are about fifty one different kinds of forest types they are tropical wet evergreen forest, tropical semi evergreen, tropical moist deciduous forest, littoral and swamp forest and tropical dry deciduous forest. Assam forest serves as one of the best place for tourist as it contains many variety of wildlife. The conservation of these is a challenging task and it is done by department of Environment and forest. Animals includes Pigmy hog, hispid hare, white winged wood duck, Indian hornbills lives in Assam forest and it serves as a treasure house for these rare animals. These ecological balances are managed by the Department of Environment and Forest. Due to unmanaged or unmaintainable conditions the resources present in Assam forest got exploited so this was being taken in hand by the department of Environment and forest. The main motto of Department of Environment and Assam is to safeguard and improve the environment and to protect the forests and wildlife.

Assam forest is a site for enthusiasm and pleasure as it covers the land about 26832 sq. km. The reserve forests constitute of 66.58% and uncased forest 33.42 % of the total forest area. It is being a part of Indian forests by 34.21% and encloses larger volume. It becomes the hub of various wildlife creatures.

Land use pattern.

Land use planning and flood mitigation in Assam forest is assumed that change in land use pattern may help farmers to minimize risk arising from flood hazard. However, this has caused many changes in cropping patterns. Moreover, the Assam gains the award of producing high yield variety (HYV) rice cultivation also the use of inorganic fertilizers increased six times and the use of pesticides increased in Assam.

National parks: dibrusaikhowa national park, kaziranga national park, manas national park, nameri national park, orang national park

Wildlife sanctuaries: amsang, borali , chakrashila, dipor bil, garampani, laokhowa, sonai rupai, pobitora, nambor, east karbi angling, hoollongapar gibbon and many wildlife sanctuaries are present in this category.

Forests and tree cover:

Forest and tree cover in the Assam forest is about 29,237 sq. km which is 37.27% of the geographical area. In Assam, there has been an increase of 5,188 sq. km in the total forest and tree cover of the country, in addition, the tree cover has seen an increase of 1,212 sq. km, while the forest cover has increased by 3,976 sq. km. it is established by the chief minister of Assam in order to protect the wildlife animals and safeguard for the future.

Growing stock, bamboo resources and animals:

Assam Forest is one of the producer of large bamboo resources.it is well done due to the interconnected relation of rain towards the forest. The major producing areas are cacher, karbi, angling, nagoan and many. There are 51 types of species of bamboos found along there and have a high economic value. The conservation of the tree is the key trust areas of bamboo conservation policies of Assam. There are many animals found with maintained ecosystem. Barsingha, wild water buffalo, white winged duck, gaur, and Indian muntjac and lot many. Kaziranga contains the fauna with 35 mammalian species. Also snakes such as phyton and rock phyton also the king cobra were found at large areas.

Place of birth: Mulukgaon in the Dibrugarh district of Assam

Educational qualifications: completed Bachelor Degree with English Honours from Hanumanbaksh Kanoi College under Dibrugarh University and his LLB from Gauhati University.

Hobbies: As a passionate sportsman, he is best at playing of football, cricket and badminton.

DREAMS INTO REALITY

Sarbananda Sonowal initiated his carrier as a student leader which became the first step towards his milestone. He is a fellow of wisdom, hard work, acknowledgement etc. he played a crucial role in organizing and establishing new policies, active participation on strikes and unfair rules judged by the citizens. The idea behind him was TO THE PEOPLE OF THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE. His rewards he gained for his success was the selection of President of the oldest student body of the state, the All Assam Students Union (AASU), from 1992 to 1999 by the citizens. He was also the President of North East Students Organization (NESO) from 1996 to 2000. He started his presence to politics as a member of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a regional political party. Sarbananda Sonowal is the 14th Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 he was appointed as the Chief Minister in the Government of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has multitasking tendencies and has capacity of a dynamic leader capacity, and he is a man of wisdom and self-containment. Being the member of Bharatiya Janata Party he represents the Majuli constituency in State Legislative Assembly of Assam

Becoming a chief minister is the position of god who executes and creates each. Like the same he does it and no doubt about his presence for the later raining years of his period. We hope it happens with flying colours! As years passes he became fruitful and reaching great heights. Now he became a role model of many hearts. It is only possible due to his struggle and commitment towards his goals. In 2001; he was elected as MLA from Moran Assembly Constituency. In the 2004 General election, he became a Member of Parliament (MP), Lok Sabah. In 2005 he was appointed as a Member, Consultative Committee and Ministry of Home Affairs and in 2006 as Member, Consultative Committee and Ministry of Commerce & Industry and continued as a Member of Parliament till 2009 before joining Bharatiya Janata Party in 2011. In the same year he was appointed as National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party and also as State Spokesperson and General Secretary for Assam Bharatiya janata.
