Scurrula parasitica var. graciliflora (Roxb. ex Schult. & Schult. f) H. S. Kiu

Earlier identified as simply S. parasitica

var. parasitica has red corolla

var. graciliflora greenish yellow

Based on feedback from Facebook Indian Flora Group and having second look at calyx, I feel this may be Taxillus sp., perhaps T. vestitus. Let us wait further.

It is Taxillus vestitus, mostly found on Quercus leuctrichophora trees.

Thanks …

Is this entire thing a parasite…then where is the host?

The tree from which it was hanging. The tree can be seen in the first and second (partly) photographs..

Perhaps this needs relook. Could be Taxillus vestitus or any other species.

This is again a parasite, shot in May 2012 from Chakrata region.. perhaps again a Scurulla, differs in more tomentose leaves and flowers few …though they were not open at the time, hope to get id..

Could these be berries of Scurrula pulverulenta (Wallich) G. Don????

Yes it seems that the clavate structures are fruits. To me it seems S. pulverulenta as also suggested by …

Fruits are clavate ovoid, 8-10 mm long and crowned by cup shaped calyculus in S. cordifolia.

In S. eleta fruits are 5 mm long, glabrous. In S.pulverulenta fruits are 6-8 mm long clavate, mealy tomentose.

Thank you very much …. for valuable feedback, I mistook the fruits as unopened flowers…will look for this again, I remember the place exactly…

Assuming that these fruits are formed after corolla falls off, and looking at the shape of calyx, it may also be Taxillus vestitus or any other species.
