ANDEC69 Shrub for identification : 9 posts by 5 authors. Attachments (4)

Chakrata, Uttarakhand

November 2014

Could it be an Ehretia sp.? just a guess…

The leaves photo separately as NO. 3 & 4 are different from the leaves of the red fruited shrub.

As clear from photo 2, there are two shrubs growing side by side and the confusion in selecting the leaves

from adjacent shrub seems to be the case. Pl. check ?

It may be Viburnum mullaha. Fruit types, their arrangement and leaves on branches with fruits are remotely serrate that further confirm my belief. But two photographs showing only leaves appear to be slightly

different as they have entire margin, raises some questions. .

The red fruiting shrub is Viburnum mullah Buch.-Ham.ex D.Don Syn: V. stellulatum Wall.

The fruits are sour-acidic, edible

The adjacent shrubby type seems to be Pieris ovalifolia Syn: Lyonia ovalifolia. on the left of Viburnum mullah.
