Lepidagathis cuspidata:

Sharing few photographs of “Kate-Adulsa“.

Bot. name: Lepidagathis cuspidata

Family: Acanthaceae

Date/Time: 22-01-2012 / 12:30PM

Location: Kalawantin (near Prabalgad), Maharashtra

Habitat: Wild

Plant habit: small spiny shrub

This is very interesting. The local people call it Kate Adulsa and Adulsa is for Adathoda I assume. Kate if you translate in Latin is “cuspidate” means spine bearing or pointed. So basically locals know that they belong to same family without any professional botanical expertise.

I have some pic of same from Himalaya. Will find out and share soon.
