Kindly identify this shrub growing in JNU campus, Delhi. Flowers in July. Does not appear to be Grewia tenax as has larger leaves

same observation was also made for the Grewia tenex of Kachchh district of Gujarat.

I think this is Grewia tenax only

The leaves of Grewia tenax can be as large as 3 inches (long & wide) if the plant is watered frequently. Perhaps this plant is receiving a generous amount of moisture/water from a nearby source.

This plant thrives in the dry conditions of Kachchh where it is quite common. The leaves are polymorphic; the variation in both the size and the shape has been documented in detail by the great botanist Jayakrishna Indraji in his Vanaspati Sastra (published in 1910).

Thank you … But the plant is actually growing near the boundary wall in a rocky region of JNU campus.

That is interesting. There might be several variables at work behind this unusual leaf size. Usually, the larger leaves of this plant are also relatively thinner when induced by an increase in soil moisture.

Woody Shrub for ID, Rajasthan NAW-JUN16-03 : 5 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (6)

Kindly identify this woody shrub with orange fruit found fairly commonly in scrub forests. the photographs here are from 2 locations, Ranthambore forest and scrub forest on the border of Ajmer and Rajsamand districts south of Beawar. Photographed in May 2015.

The orange fruits are about 5-8 mm each, in some cases 2 to 4 fruits are joint together. A local name in Rajasthan is Ganguni, tho there are supposed to be many types of ganguni so it is not a name for a unique species.
