Vernonia amygdalina<\/i>, a member of the Asteraceae<\/i><\/span><\/a> family, is a small shrub<\/span> that grows in the tropical Africa<\/span><\/a>.<\/div>\n
V. amygdalina<\/i> typically grows to a height of 2–5 m. The leaves are elliptical and up to 20\u00a0cm long. Its bark is rough.[1]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/span><\/div>\n
V. amygdalina<\/i> is commonly called bitter leaf<\/b> in English because of its bitter taste.
