This is a tree laden with bunches of small flowers which are typically hiding below the leaves. Someone in a neighbouring house said it had fruits like a sapota.-( could have been guessing.)

The tree is in a private residence in Mylapore, Chennai.

– Yes, it matches the pics of Lepisanthes tetraphylla. I seem to be running into Sapotaceae of late ; saw a Chrysophyllum cainito for the first time last week. There was a small ( 8-9 feet) pruned specimen of this tree at Agri-Horti garden but photogrphy is not allowed there. So I was lucky to stumble on this tree, seen over the wall of a cousin’s house.

The photographs of the buds, the flower close-up, and the fruits are from three separate trees. Most of the leaves in these trees had three pairs of leaflets. The fruit is coated with a silvery down, very prominent when young.

Yes, it is Lepisanthus sps. Thank you very much for ID my tree. Flowers, leaves and leaf arrangement of L. rubiginosa are very close to my tree. In my tree, inflorescence clusters were centralised only in old branches. Even though, the specimen collected as fallen inflorescence and flower. Sprout images will be provide as soon as possible.
