Do we count Justicia procumbens<\/i>\u00a0L. and\u00a0Rostellularia adscendens<\/i> (R.Br.) R.M.Barker two different taxa?<\/div>\n
Several botanical websites think they are synonymous. One Australian Govt. website thinks 5 subspecies of\u00a0Rostellularia adscendens<\/i>\u00a0(R.Br.) R.M.Barker have been distinguished. What would be Indian species? Specially at NE India?<\/div>\n
Another Australian site thinks\u00a0Rostellularia adscendens<\/i>\u00a0(R.Br.) R.M.Barker is synonymous with – “Justicia notha<\/i> C.B.Clarke, Flora of British India 4: 537(1885), Type: INDIA?; Herb. Wight.”. Should we accept this one?<\/div>\n
There is another species Justicia assamica<\/i>\u00a0Clarke, FBI. iv. 537; which is allied to J. notha<\/i>\u00a0and J. khasiana<\/i>\u00a0(Flora of British India, vol4). As per FBI J. notha<\/i>\u00a0Clarke has flowers with 1\/3 rd inch corolla.<\/div>\n
Or should we accept the following –<\/div>\n
Justicia procumbens<\/i>\u00a0L. var. latispica<\/i>\u00a0Clarke, Flora of British India 4: 539(1885)?<\/div>\n
\n

The later being distributed in Assam region and synonymous with\u00a0Justicia mollissima<\/i> (Nees) Y.F. Deng & T.F. Daniel as per TPL.<\/p>\n

Before I could sort them out, names of Rungia<\/i> and Rostellularia<\/i> are changing to Justicia<\/i> …seen in FOI… Rostellularia crinita<\/i> has become Justicia neesi<\/i>, Justicia procumbens<\/i> has changed to Rostellularia procumbens<\/i> …not only that …in FOI two images in Justicia procumbens<\/i> are different in their spikes !!! One image is by you, …, and it looks different than this post.<\/p>\n

Leaves here are orbicular, much different than leaves in efi page for J. procumbens<\/i>.<\/p>\n

“The” confusion for me are leaves and length of inflorescence – they vary in sites and references.<\/div>\n
My posted plant may not be Justicia procumbens<\/i>, but can not guess any further.<\/div>\n

My personal favorite Rungia repens<\/i> too has changed name ….and it appears in more than one species page !
\nSimilarly, <\/span>Rungia pectinata<\/i> and <\/span>Rungia parviflora<\/i> ….I am unable to make a call whether a particular specimen in field is former or latter !<\/span><\/p>\n
