It is also supposed to have tuberous roots like I. batatas and I. mauritiana and also used medicinally.

how about Ipomoea digitata L.

May be some Ornamental varieties of Ipomoea batatas?

… is right. It is I. digitata L. now known as Ipomoea cheirophylla O’Donell, Lilloa 29: 141 141 1959.

Here is my upload from Delhi

Thanks to … for the detailing.

This is called Vidari Kanda in Coastal Karnataka, and is excessively used in the preparation of Chyavan prash, an Ayurvedic Tonic. Often it is cultivated in the Areca gardens too.

As … mentioned, this species is often confused with I. mauritiana, hence the name I. digitata L. (native to S.America) has been incorrectly treated as synonymous to I. mauritiana (a widely distributed species) in the past.

As far as I know, Vidari Kanda is actually Ipomoea mauritiana (= I. digitata auct non L.; = I. paniculata) and not I. digitata L.
