Erect or spreading perennial herbs or undershrubs, about 10-50 cm tall.<\/span> Rootstocks slender, taproot. Hairs bipartite, white stiff appressed. Stem erect, usually woody and much branched at the base, also dichotomously branched above, pubescent with white bipartite appressed hairs, branches herbaceous like. Leaves simple, variable, linear lanceolate to linear-oblong, about 10-60 x 1-8 mm across, base cuneate to attenuate, margin entire, apex acute to subobtuse, strigose, pubescent on both sides, midrib impressed above and prominent beneath, petiole sessile. Inflorescence racemes, lax, 5-15 flowered, up to 20 cm long in fruit, ebracteate. Flowers bisexual, yellowish orange to pale purple, about 10 mm across, pedicel erect, slender, ascending, about 1-3 mm long, up to 6 mm long in fruit, sepals 4, subequal, erect, oblong, lateral pair base not saccate, apex subobtuse, about 6-8 x 2 mm across, petals 4, linear oblong, base attenuate, margins usually crimpled or curved inwards, apex obtuse, about 10-16 x 2-2.5 mm across. Stamens 6, about 7-8 mm long, filaments linear, anthers linear-oblong, about 3 mm long, lateral nectar glands present, median glands absent. Ovary superior, linear, ellipsoid-cylindrical, sessile, bicarpellary, syncarpous, ovules 10-40, style thick, about 1 mm long, stigma bilobed, conical. Fruit siliqua, linear-ellipsoid to linear-oblong, compressed, bilocular, base and apex nearly rounded, about 15-50 x 2.5-5 mm across, subglabrous or slightly covered with bipartite appressed hairs, midrib prominent, valves membranous, septum complete. Seeds biseriate or uniseriate, compressed, brown, orbicular-ovoid, about 3 mm, winged, minutely reticulate, cotyledons accumbent.<\/span>
