Erect, aromatic, annual herb; branchlets hirsute. Leaves alternate, oblanceolate to spathulate, to 5 x 2 cm, chartaceous, base auriculate, apex obtuse. Capitula heterogamous, 8 mm wide, terminal or in upper axils, in few-flowered racemes. Involucre 5 mm wide. Phyllaries linear, 2-seriate. Ray florets numerous, purplish, tube 2.5 mm; lobes 3 mm. Eligulate pistillate florets with protruding style. Disk florets c. 20, yellowish, 4 mm. Achenes of ray and eligulate florets obovoid, those of disk florets terete. Pappus c. 20, of white setae.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/font>\u00a0<\/div>\n

Inula<\/i> is excluded because in subtribe including Aster<\/i> and Erigeron<\/i>, ray florets are never yellow, whereas in one including Inula ray florets are yellow.<\/div>\n
