Prostrate glabrous herbs; stems slender. Leaves alternate, 1-1.5 x 0.8 cm, obovate, obtuse, cuneate at base, dentate. Heads 3 x 2 mm, axillary, sessile, hemispherical; bracts 2-seriate, 1-mm long, lanceolate, hairy. Flowers 2-types. Female flowers in outer few rows; corolla minute, tubular, shortly 4-toothed, yellow. Bisexual flowers inner, few; corolla campanulate, 0.6 mm long, 4-lobed, yellow; stamens 4, anthers entire at base. Achenes 1 mm long, obovate, 4-angled, ciliate, brown; pappus absent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The species is distributed throughout tropical Africa, Asia (China, Afghanistan, Japan; Taiwan, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, and Singapore), Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Australia (New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia), New Zealand, and the Pacific islands, including Samoa, New Caledonia, and Fiji. In China, the species is known from southern and central provinces (Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, Yunnan, Zhejiang, and Sichuan), and from Taiwan, Province of China (Sharma et al. <\/span>1984, Henry et al. <\/span> 1987, Verm et al. <\/span> 1993, Almeida 1996, Cook 1996, Pullaiah and Ali 1997, Mathew 1999, eFlora 2011).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It is an annual plant, seen in a wide range of habitats, including growing in wet places, marshy banks, sometimes found submerged in shallow water and rice fields. It can inhabit waste grounds and roadsides. The plant grows almost all types of soil, in any habitat.<\/span><\/div>\n
It is used in medicine in treating a variety of respiratory conditions. It is used for colds and acute and chronic allergies.<\/span><\/div>\n

I hope attached images are Centipeda elatinoides <\/i>(Less.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex O.Hoffm. My earlier upload<\/a><\/span>. Both the species collected from different places of same district. I think it is similar to the specimen of<\/a> … <\/span>But it is not similar to the Sphaeranthus indicus<\/a>L<\/span><\/i><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>So please validate<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

It is surely Centipeda elatinoides<\/i> syn. C. minuta<\/i>, commonly known as sneezing weed. It is known as Naak Chhikru<\/b> (means which induces sneezing in nose) in Himachal.

So, I guess, it could\u00a0be C. minima<\/em> or its subsp.<\/p>\n
