On examination, I feel it matches with Elaeagnus indica Serv. as per high resolution specimens at GBIF & Flora of peninsular India

It looks different from other observations at Elaeagnus conferta Roxb. in the shape and colour of the inflorescence and flowering period (as it is flowering in May).

PLEASE ID THE CLIMBER: IT IS CLIMBER WITH WHITE FRUIT. IT IS ON HIGHER ELEVATION. PLEASE HELP IN ID.

It may be Elaeagnus indica, if the leaves are silvery-white beneath.

Fruits of it are very tasty.

It look like Elaeagnus conferta Roxb. [Syn. E. latifolia auct. (non Linn.)]. A large, branched, usually scandent shrub, often running over trees. Leaves variable, broadly elliptiv or elliptic-lanceolate, obtuse or acuminate apex, upper surface pale green, clothed with small whitish seals. lower surface silvery white. Flowers usually many in cluster.
Perianth covered with silvery scales. fruit nearly 2 cm long. edible.

Villagers make pickle of the fruits…

can be seen in Mahableshwar, Matheran, Khandala, Nasik, Ahmednagar etc in Maharashtra..

It is Elaeagnus conferta Roxb.

.. may be right. But my id was based on this ref (screen shot attached). Would love to know the differences.

It may not be Elaeagnus conferta. Could be Elaeagnus indica. For E.c. leaves are longer (fruits are edible, size vary from 1.5-2 cm long, taste like tamarind) http://nbranaikatti.blogspot.com/search?q=+Elaeagnus+

I agree with …. This is Elaeagnus indica of Elaeagnaceae family….. Would you please tell me what was the color under the leaves
