Great shots. Beautiful flower. I had read that Vigna species can have twisted keel petals.

All Vigna species (I don’t remember any other at least now) posted so far had a twisted keel. Thanks for showing this without a twisted keel. Interesting. I hope I am correct.

It is nice feeling to notice an exception…..

so this is chodi afterall… thought I had seen these leaves before…

… if this in your garden… make sure you dont handle the leaves… palms are not too affected, but face and arms get the tiny hair and the hair – tips (on leaves) have a very subtle milky sap…and there is a dermatological “farmers” allergic response in humans to the vigna allergen… and then cant digest the bean

vegetable…

I should know.. am afflicted and have treated a lot of similar hapless gardeners… wear thick long sleeves when you pick you chaodi or chalai/yardlong beans…

Looks like some species of Vigna … but not sure

I think this is Vigna vexillata (L.) A.Rich.

The wing petals and the shape of the leaves may not suggest that this as V.vexillata.

In Vigna generally the wing petals are shorter than the standard petals and the keel petals beaked (which is not visible in the picture).

http://www.flowersofindia.Zombi%20Pea.html

I think it is Mucuna pruriens (L.)DC- it is extensive climber leaflets 3 ovate-triangular rhomboid-ovate apex subacute, base cuneate or inquilateral, flowers purple-mauve.

It is commomly known as Kavach or Khaj-kuilee belonging to Fabaceae

The standard petals and the floral arrangement don’t support for M. pruruens as well.

http://www.flowersofindia.Velvet%20Bean.html

Mucuna pruriens always has dark purple calyx whereas the calyx seen in the picture are green. Another reason why the plant is not M. pruriens

any chances of Dunbaria???

I think fruits are needed to assign this plant to it specific name. it looks more like Vigna.

I find it closer to images at Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.
