Please help me in identifying this Fabaceae<\/i> herb. It was found in a fresh fallow land,<\/span> so I doubt that this could be under cultivation. <\/span>Could this be an Alysicarpus <\/i>sp.?<\/div>\n

There are other species of the genera\u00a0Alysicarpus<\/i> have similar kind of dual coloured flowers. In the images attached, calyx is much longer, since it is difficult to identify species because identification is mainly based on pods.
\nBut, if the pods are rugose and stem is villous then it should be\u00a0<\/span>Alysicarpus<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>glumaceus<\/i>\u00a0(Vahl) DC. or otherwise\u00a0<\/span>Alysicarpus<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>longifolius<\/i> (Spreng.) Wight & Arn. as flower pedicel are much longer..<\/span><\/p>\n

This is definitly not Alysicarpus longifolius<\/em>. I think Dr Pokle and should be able give the correct ID. Alysicarpus glumaceous<\/em> is also a variable species.<\/p>\n

it is not A sanjappae<\/em> but appears close to a heynianus.<\/em> However it’s leaves are characteristic of A scariosus<\/em>.<\/span> To conform identity it’s primary bract and secondary bracts along with pod with it’s uppermost article need to be studied.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of the form of <\/span>Alysicarpus sanjappae<\/i>, it is procumbent, but shows erect habit due to support of grasses. Identify by height 30 cm, pods slightly exerted from calyx, inflorescence dense, pods transversely wrinkled. I am happy to suggest you this is new report of this species and it extends it distribution.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
