Acacia leucophloea (Roxb.) Willd.

common wild acacia of deccan plateau, bark used by the locals for fermenting alcohol.

Yes, called KHIR KADAM by local population in suburban bengal

very apt.. flowers are miniature kadam like and white (like Khir or kshir/ milk)

prolific seed production makes it an urban nuisance, but quite beneficial for soil holding and prevention of erosion.

Acacia leucophloea?

Experts, kindly validate.

Yes …, The infructescence pattern and the tomentose, narrow, straight to curved elongate fruits, without any constriction between the seeds are very characteristic of Acacia leucophloea, now called Vachellia leucophloea (Roxb.) Maslin, Seigler & Ebinger.

Acacia For ID : Bangalore : 11SEP17 : AK-07 : 13 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (3)

Acacia tree in bloom seen in the first week of this month (Sept’17).

Could be Vachellia leucophloea?

For me ‘yes’.

Unfortunately we are not getting the details of the leaflets and whether stipular spines were present.  However, as you mention that this is a tree and assuming that there were stipular spines in pairs, we can say that such paniculate inflorescences of heads are seen in Vachellia leucophloea.

Really sorry for the incomplete set of pictures. It was cloudy with low light and later started drizzling. So although I have clicked more pictures, quality is bad. Let me check for more pictures

Adding one more picture. Hope it helps.

I had posted a similar tree from same location earlier. Attachments (1)

I am sure the ID is correct. These trees are very common in South India especially Mysore and Bangalore. I am familiar with this tree.

It seems okay. Nothing to worry about it as you are a regular visitor to that place.

If you have seen the fruit, you can match it with this
