– Besides the above in the book ‘Nature Heals’, Pg 1- it is mentioned that part used is plant, leaf, Root, stem and Flower.

Constituents: Alkaloids, Acalypus, Achalyphine, Gamma-sitosterol acetate.

Actions/ uses: Cathartic, anthelmintic, expectorant, emetic, anodyne, hypnotic, laxative. Used in ring worms.


Cats like to eat the roots of this plant.

Most common weed in Chennai and surroundings. Kuppe-meni in Tamil. The leaves possess wound healing property. The juice is applied on the wounds, when hurt / injuries.


Didn’t know about its use in CHHULI and bed sores. I remember that in the age of B/W photography HYPO was used to treat CHHULI, Some related links –

Yes, looks like an Acalypha species.


The images of the flowers are not very clear, but from the shape of the bracts and the elongated styles, this indeed appears to be Acalypha lanceolata. However, I am not fully sure.
