Shrubs, branchlets densely hispid. Leaves 2-2.5 x 1.5-2 cm, ovate, apex acute, base cuneate, margin crenate to serrate. Male flowers in axillary cylindric spike to 8 cm, anthers vermiculiform, sessile; female spike to 1.5 cm, upper axillary, bracts cupular, dentate, enclosing the ovary, ovary ca 2 mm across, tomentose, styles 3, to 7 mm with filiform bases. Flowering and fruiting: October-March

It looks like Acalypha capitata. This resembles Acalypha alnifolia, an endemic species, called Sirukurunjan in Tamil. .
