A revision of Aganosma (Blume) G. Don (Apocynaceae) by DAVID J. MIDDLETON’- Kew Bulletin, Vol. 51, No. 3 (1996), pp. 455-482-
Summary The Asian genus Aganosmais revised. Eight species are recognised of which one has two varieties. The complex nomenclatural issues in the genus are discussed.
1. Aganosma cymosa (Roxb.) G. Don, Gen. Syst. 4: 77 (1837) var. cymosa (Syn: Aganosma cymosa var. glabra A. DC.; Aganosma cymosa var. lanceolata Hook. f.; Aganosma harmandiana Pierre ex Spire; Aganosma cymosa var. fulva Craib) (Distribution: India (Assam, Nagaland), Bangladesh, Burma, China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) HABITAT. In evergreen, mixed or deciduous forest or thicket, to 1300 m.
2. Aganosma cymosa (Roxb.) G. Don var. elegans (G. Don) Hook. f., Fl. Brit. Ind. 3: 665 (1882) (Syn: Aganosma elegans G. Don, Echites elegans Wall.; Aganosma cymosa (Roxb.) G. Don; Aganosma doniana Wight; Aganosma cymosa var. conferta (G. Don) Hook. f.; Aganosma conferta G . Don; Toxocarpus eriocarpus Hook. f.; Echites bracteata Wall.) (Distribution: Southern India, Sri Lanka)
HABITAT. In evergreen or deciduous forest or scrub to 1550 m.
3. Aganosma dichotoma (Roth in Roem. & Schult.) K. Schum. in Engler & Prantl (Syn: Echites dichotoma Roth in Roem. & Schult.; Echites heynei Sprengel; Aganosma caryophyllata auct. non G. Don; Aganosma roxburghii G. Don; Echites caryophyllata auct. non Roxb.: Aganosma blumei auct. non A. DC.) (syn. of Aganosma heynei (Spreng.) I.M.Turner)
(Distribution: Hooker (1882) noted that it was difficult to give a natural distribution for this species as it is widely cultivated all over India. I have seen only two collections, Haines 4877 and Haines 4880, which would seem to have been collected in the wild. These were both collected near Puri in Orissa in India).
4. Aganosma gracilis Hook. f., Fl. Brit. Ind. 3: 664 (1882); (DISTRIBUTION. Bhutan, India).
INDIA. Meghalaya: Cherrapunjee, Khasi Hills; Sikkim; Chonbutee, Darjeeling; Nampok, Pantling.
HABITAT. In forest, 600 – 1200 m.
5. Aganosma marginata (Roxb.) G. Don, Gen. Syst. 4: 77 (1837) (Syn: Echites marginata Roxb., Echites reticulata Wall., Echites acuminata Roxb., Aganosma acuminata G. Don, Ichnocarpus acuminatus Fern.-Vill., Amphineurion acuminata (Roxb.) Pichon, Echites apoxys Voigt, Echites acuminata in the Roxburgh collection in Kew library, Echites reticulata Bojer, Aganosma macrocarpa A. DC., Ichnocarpus macrocarpus Fern.-Vill., Echites macocarpa Wall., Aganosma velutina A. DC., Ichnocarpus velutinus Fern.-Vill., Aganosma euloba Miq., Echites repens Blanco, Echites procumbens Blanco, Holarrhena procumbens (Blanco) Merr.))
(DISTRIBUTION. India, Bangladesh, China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia)
(HABITAT. Wide variety of habitats especially in drier evergreen and deciduous forest and as a scrambler in scrubland, to 850 m.)
6. Aganosma schlechteriana Lev., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 9: 325 (1911) (Syn: Aganosma navaillei (Lev.) Tsiang, Aganonerion poylmorphum auct. non Pierre ex Spire: Aganosma odora Tsiang, Aganosma cymosa auct non (Roxb.) G. Don, Aganosma radiata Merr., Aganosma montana Kerr, Aganosma schlechteriana var. breviloba T siang, Aganosmas chlechteriana var. leptantha T siang)

‎Aganosma ‎(Apocynaceae) : 1 post by 1 author.

I have updated eFI (efloraofindia) page on  Aganosma (Pl. click).

Attempts have been made to incorporate most of the species available in India & nearby areas with details & keys directly or through links as far as possible. It’s quite possible that there may be some discrepancy in the accepted names & synonyms taken from other links.

Species discussed so far in efloraofindia are given at the bottom of the page in the form of links against Subpages. On clicking them one can see all the details.

If someone can provide complete list of Indian species with source references it will be wonderful.
Any comments/ corrections are welcome.

.

Pl. go through Aganosma page (‎‎‎Apocynaceae) with images of species in efloraofindia (done by me).

If you find any mis-identification, pl. let us know.
If anybody can send images of other species of this genera (for incorporation in the website), it will be really nice. Also, if anybody is interested to take up the activity of inserting images on efloraofindia pages from efloraofindia posts, pl. let us know.
