The leaves of Haldina cordifolia (Roxb.) Ridsdare heart shaped with long petiole, and crowded at the end of branches; flowers with pale yellowish lobes and pinkish tube..
where as, the leaves of Mitragyna parvifolia (Roxb.) Korth are variable, but never cordate; flowers with whitish-green lobes and same coloured tube

Haldina cordifolia was originally described by William Roxburgh which is characteristic by the orbicular -cordate leaves, orbicular-oblong stipules, yellow flowers and very peculiar calyx, which are 5-lobed.
Mitragyna parviflora also described by Roxburgh remarkably different from Haldinia cordifolia by the presence of 2 linear-oblong reduced leaves at the base of flower head, obovate stipules, entire calyx limb etc. Leaves are highly variable in later from orbicular, oblong, ovate or cordate hence are not a reliable character for species delimitation.

Yes … I saw only two trees in Delhi

Another very nice upload, I have seen this tree only in Morni Hills (in Haryana) and no other place in our state. There the locals call it by name of Haldu.

Very nice pictures … I would like to point out one thing.
The image 4780293954_a98cb48914.jpg. The first one in the attached images shows different leaves.
The leaves of Haldina I guess should be opposite (characteristic of Rubiaceae.) and decussate.
Is it some mix up?

Perfectly pointed out, …
While I remembered to remove from the embedded images in the message body – forgot to remove the picture from among the attachments.

VOF Trek: Haldina cordifolia ?? en-route Devprayag:    Even though the location where i had seen this tree was far away from VOF, i thought of sharing these pics as these were photographed while we got stranded near Dev-Prayag due to Landslide. It took almost 3 hours before the road got cleared for on ward journey. Our entire journey till Joshimath was full of hick ups due to frequent land slides every now and then.
Even though we started from Rishikesh early morning by 04:00AM, we could just managed to reach Karna-Prayag by evening 06:00PM. Second day was bit easy going as we could reach Joshimath by 03:00PM.
Thanks to Land slide as i could capture some interesting plants like Ceropegia
Coming to the tree here, i think this looks like Haldina cordifolia, (Family: Rubiaceae).
Date/Time: 05-08-2012 / 10:40AM
Habitat: Wild.
Plant Habit: Tree.

Yes … These trees were much plenty enroute and we also observed them. Thanks for sharing!
