BALSAMINACEAE: ID: Prejith004. Please Identify this one.: I cant conclude its identity very confidently but I can say this may be Impatiens from section Oppositifoliae, coz leaves are opposite. Now for the species Yes, I also think it is Impatiens oppositifolia as the leaves are opposite. It appears to be I. minor but you have got to ensure if the pedicel is glabrous. If the pedicel is with 2 lines of hairs then it could be I. kleiniformis, but this is not (yet) reported from Kerala. Same thing …, what I observe in displayed picture is glabrous pedicel. last week at mahabeleshwar
unfortunately the images are not very good but the glands at the base of the leaf can be seen
I am quoting an earlier mail between … and …
I think this flower should be Impatiens minor (Syn: I. kleinii)

A very tiny Balsam seen near Saputara, on 7/8/13. Sorry for the bad picture.
It was difficult to capture the tiny flower. This can be Impatiens inconspicua. (But possibility of I.keliniformis can not be ruled out.) Thanks for a possible id.
Going through all the Impatiens on FOI, could this be Impatiens minor? Just a guess.
Most probably I. minor, as according to Dessai & Janarthanam 2011 this is only one of balasams with opposite leaves growing so far to the north Thanks … for the follow up and id of my Balsam.

Impatiens for specific id Pachmarhi, M.P.- NS August 04 : 7 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (3)
Please suggest specific id for this herb shot from Pachmarhi, this is Impatiens species, with smallest flowers I have ever seen..!! I think Impatiens klenii or Impatiens minor……. Impatiens minor It looks to me like Impatiens minor (=I. kleinii) which is indeed recorded from Patchmari hills. This species which occurs through out Western Ghats also extends up to Patchmari. But the pair of glands at the base of lamina, which is characteristic in I. minor, are not visible in these plants which may be checked. There is a lot of variation with regard to size of flowers in I. minor.
