Launaea nudicaulis from Lohari

Yes …  Now L. procumbens

ID (DSCF3881/3882) : Picture taken in Dudhwa National Park (U.P.), 22/03/2008.

– Launaea procumbens indeed .. a weed found in nearly all continents of the world

Kindly Id this wild plant, trailing along the ground,
leaves: basal rosette of leaves -absent,size approx 11cms by 3cms with thorny edges
flowers: light yellow approx 1.7 cms.
no fruits seen.

Is this Launaea spp?

Can this be a Lactuca?

It may be Crepidiastrum sonchifolium (Bunge) Pak & Kawano (Lactucasonchifolia (Maxim.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex Debeaux [Illegitimate].

I think Launaea procumbens

Yes I think … is right. I think it can’t be Crepidiastrum sonchifolium in which leaves are strongly auriculate (almost perfoliate) at base and heads on elongated erect peduncles not short lateral ones characteristic of Launaea.

VOF week: Lactuca like yellow flowers at Joshimath: Seen this Lactuca like yellow flowers near Joshimath. Sorry, i do not have photographs showing leaves.

Looks like Launaea procumbens…..

I think yes

efi page on  Launaea procumbens

May be Launea secunda

I could not find Launaea procumbens Roxb. in Flora Indica.

There is one, Prenanthes procumbens Roxb., which is a native of Bengal (FI. iii. 404), which is L. nudicaulis Less. of FBI and Bengal Plants, which is unresolved in KEW, looks similar to Brachyramphus obtusus DC., syn. of Launaea nudicaulis (L.) Hook.f. of KEW,
which further is 1) Launaea procumbens (Roxb.) Amin of KEW, 2) Launaea procumbens (Roxburgh) Ramayya & Rajagopal of FoC, 3) Launaea fallax (Jaubert & Spach) Kuntze of IIIM

In Launaea secunda Clarke, heads are “1/3 inch long narrow in subsessile racemed subsecund clusters, as in – http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/getImage.do?imageBarcode=K000808056 (source)

Any other difference between L. secunda Clarke and L. nudicaulis Less.?

This has already been listed as L. procumbens.

Lactuca of Asteraceae. may be L. serriola
