I was quite sure it was from Malvaceae but could not find a match.
I have seen and posted before, the reddish leaves confused me. Does this come under the family Malvaceae or Sterculiaceae (as in FOI)? Sterculiaceae as per B&H and Malvaceae as per APG The plant identified by … is correct and the plant belongs to family Malvaceae but its also called chocolate weed for nothing

I am intrigued. is it widespread where you found it? I wonder if we see it in India? Widespread in Gujarat , Maharashtra and Southern states too ! Tamilnadu has more than one species of Melochia.
