A small plant.

Looks like Nicandra physaloides, a native of Peru.


Yes colour of corolla and strongly winged calyx support Nicandra physalodes.


This American plant is also widely cultivated and readily naturalizes. It features in Revised Handbook of Flora of Ceylone as also in enumeration of Flowering Plants of Nepal.

Plant having Physalis like fruits:

please give some clue to trace the identity of this plant.
Locality: Jarandeshwar hill, Near Satara, Maharashtra
Habit: Fleshy herbs, up to 7 feet high
Stem: Quandrangular, smooth, green
Leaves: Papery, cuneate, 15×12 cm, ovate
Flowers: Purple coloured, 2.5-4 cm long
Calyx: auricled, green about 2 cm long

… most probably Nicandra physaloides (family Solanaceae) native of S. America.
