P. parvum … the flowers, often appear before leaves, stamens enclosed in slender cup P. triflorum … the flowers appear with the leaves, the small staminal cup with toothed fringe .
The staminal cup differentiates it from Chlorophytum. C. bharchae is a plant of dry rocky hils. This flower is about 6 cm and it is the rare Pancratium parvum. It blooms on first shower in June

These large, white, fragrant and short lived flowers often appear before the leaves. Stamens are enclosed in a staminal cup (the stamens are fused to form a large cup, known as “staminal cup”. Etymology: From the Greek pankratos = strength and Parvum = Small. My query is : the plant is delicate and flowers are large. then why the plant’s bot. name is pancratium parvum?

Would like to know the difference between P. parvum and P. triflorum. I think … observations are correct. Comparing both the species with … book I too feel the ones mentioned by Dinesh ji are P. triflorum– main distinguishing feature being the staminal cup with bifid teeth betweeen short filaments. Could you please identify this fragrant flower. Location: Girawali, Ghodegao. Wild lily. Certain kind of tube rose or atamasco lily ? Looks like a Pancratium or Hymenocallis species. If wild can be Pancratium. Pancratium triflorum.

After the pre monsoon showers the Forest Spider Lily blooms in the hills of Yeoor, SGNP Thane. These flowers bloom first before the leafs. I was planning for many years to see this unique phenomenon and it happened this year. Along with these Lilies the Yellow Ground Star aka Kali Musali flowers too had come up at the base of the shoots. Submitting the pictures for correct ID too. Wow, Nice set of photographs. Both Malayalam and English spellings are correct. This kind of onion growing in my property.
KONKANI language correct Malayalam spelling is കൊങ്കണി.
English meaning of Kaattulli കാട്ടുള്ളി is wild onion.
