This plant is photographed in Kanha National Park where it has proved itself a very powerful weed by taking over most of the small grass lands between the forests and undergrowth in Sal forests.
It is an unpalatable plant for wildlife there.
May I request you to please help in ID of this plant.
Thanks for yr help. See if your plant matches with Pogostemon benghalensis… It is Pogostemon benghalensis (Burm. f.) Ktze. But i have not found any difference between P. benghalensis and P. plectranthoides.

Was posted on the forum earlier and identified. Family: Lamiaceae For me this is Pogostemon benghalensis .. Pogostemon plectranthoides– Kali Basuti. It is Pogostemon benghalensis (Burm. f.) Kuntze, and treated Pogostemon plectranthoides Desf. as synonym of the former in my works. But some authors treat them as separate species. P. benghalensis is highly variable with regard to leaf margin, verticillasters density and type of indumentum, it is better to treat them as one species. Lamiaceae (incl. If correct ID not listed in Nepal. May be, but I am not sure. Or may be Pogostemon benghalensis (Burm.f.) Kuntze again since image was shot at same location Yes, Pogostemon benghalensis (Burm.f.) Check for Pogostemon sps
Thanks, …, for the id.

I have noticed flowering month as December in FoI whereas Efn says March- May and couple of occasions I have shot in April month. Is December correct month for flowering ?
That is an interesting point you raised. … picture of Pogostemon benghalensis on FOI was taken on 31st January in Maharashtra. So December doesn’t look all that wrong, which was taken from Ingalhalikar’s Flowers of Sahyadri. The second image by Girija was taken in Mussoorie on 1st March. Maybe the flowering times in Western Ghats and the Himalayan foothills are somewhat different.
Wild plants seen at Karla, Lonavala in March,19 With tiny purple flowers.
Could be Pogostemon benghalensis?
Picture not clear but looks like Pogostemon benghalensis (Burm.f.) Kuntze !
Suggest to furnish elevation also in your post . Elevation was around 1000 feet. Then seems correct.

Thanks for the feedback.
I could not find any Elsholtzia pics in efi from the Western ghats/ peninsular India.
Can this be some Pogostemon. I found some similarities with some Pogostemon species.
Attaching a cropped pic of a leaf as well, if it would help.
It could be Pogostemon also. Images are not so clear.
