Caryophyllaceae Week: Silene pendula from Kashmir: Silene pendula L., Sp. pl. 1:418. 1753 Common names: Drooping catchfly, Nodding catchfly Cultivated ornamental herb up to 25 cm tall, pubescent, branched above; leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-oblong, 3-5 cm long; flowers pink to flesh coloured, in loose cymes, pendulous, 15-20 mm across; pedicels shorter than hirsute 10-nerved calyx, latter inflated at anhesis; petals 2-lobed, with scales at base of limb.
