I was told this is Stereospermum angustifolium? How does one differentiate it from Stereospermum chelonoides? Wrightia tinctoria (Apocynaceae) Now called Stereospermum personatum [S.colias]. It differs from S.chelonoides by having leaves that are often serrulate and dull-purple flowers, whereas in the latter the flowers are yellow tinged with reddish purple. Stereospermum colais. पाडळ Thank you … As per the efi database, the new name for this is S. tetragonum.. No flowers or fruits on the tree but I was hoping ID would be possible without them. I doubt about the identification because no phyllanthus species has the leaves origin from the same point while your plants uploaded show that two leaves originate at the same point needs further identification To me this looks like Padal [Stereospermum personatum syn. S.colias]. Please check the archives of this group for my photographs of this.

Stereospermum chelenoides Nice photographs, but this could be Stereospermum personatum [S.colais now possibly called S.tetragonum]. Stereospermun chelonoides [S.suaveolens] generally has dull purple flowers. Stereospermum colais FLOWERS /PLANTS MENTIONED BY TAGORE IN HIS SONGS ( PARUL-2 ) : 1 post by 1 author. Attachments (1)

Taken at Maharashtra Nature Park on the 6th of April, 2011. A medium sized tree showing some dried pods as well. – This is Padal [Stereospermum personatum, syn. S.colias]. Stereospermum chelonoides: yes Stereospermum chelonoides, Padal (Plant has medicinal importance) The current name should be S. colais (Buch.-Ham. ex Dillwyn) Mabb. var. colais. Agree with … This is Stereospermum personatum [syn. S.colias] locally called Padree with a yellow corolla tinged with reddish-purple. In S.chelenoides [syn. S.suaveolens] locally called Padal the flowers are dull purple. I think its difficult to differentiate two species with these photos, because the corolla from outside is purple, it will be great if pod photo is available, i think that would help in proper identification, but still i guess S. chenoloides (its very common in Alibaug) Even though these two species are distinct, the nomenclature of the group is very confusing.
The posted plant, however, is S. colais, as suggested by … The current name (!?) is S. tetragonum as per TPL http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-318150 Stereospermum colais: Very nice find … Excellent set showing flowers fruit and Leaf pattern with its acuminate apex.

Will you please help me to get 3 pieces saplings of the each through courier ?
Hope you would help me heartily It’s not developed privately in nurseries I assume. But Forest nurseries develop.
You have to contact your State Forest research Wing.
Else I think MP Forest research Wing develop and have the seedlings.
Another options:
1.But easily grow from seeds. You have to find the tree from a nearby hills.
2. It can be developed through cuttings. Thank you for your response .
It is very rare in West Bengal and neither state run nor the private nurseries make its saplings.
So I am to you for your kind help regarding some saplings or some germinatable seeds I don’t think so it’s very rare. But occasional atleast in National forests or Tiger reserves. . MS,May,2022/09 Stereospermum tetragonum ? for id/confirmation: 2 images. Altitude : ca.830 m.
